Homemade gift bags and cushions for a cosy Christmas
INSTRUCTIONS
Pamper someone with a gift that is beautifully packaged in a homemade fabric bag.
Decorate it with an embroidered felt label and a lovely ribbon. Or how about sewing
your own Advent calendar bags? The best part is that you can use them over and over
again. And for even more Christmas cosiness, we’ve made our own cushions from the
holiday’s finest fabrics.

Large fabric bag
For one bag measuring 50x35 cm,
you need:
2 fabric pieces, 50x70 cm
(305077–87)
2 m silver ribbon (304016)

Method:
Lay the fabric pieces right side fac-
ing right side. Sew them along the
long sides and one short side (see
image 1). Press the seams apart
with an iron.
Fold down the edge of the open side
by 12 cm. Sew two seams around

the bag 1.5 cm apart to form a chan-
nel for the ribbon (image 2).
Poke the bottom corners of the bag
out so the seams are against each
other and iron. Sew a 15 cm long
seam at a 90 degree angle to the
existing seam across each corner.
Cut off the corners 1 cm from the
new seam (image 3).
Turn the bag right side out. On both
sides, tear a small hole between

the two seams of the channel made
at image 2 (be careful not to rip
through the seams). Attach the end
of a 1 m long piece of ribbon to a
safety pin and thread it through the
channel. Repeat with the hole on the
other side (image 4).
Tie the ribbon ends together on the
right and left sides.
