A Special Message from Revenue Commissioner Amy Pitter
As we head into the new tax filing season, I’d like to ask you a favor — throw this
booklet away! That’s right, throw it away, right into the nearest recycling bin. It’s
time to join the millions of Massachusetts taxpayers who quickly and simply file
their returns electronically.
Why E-File? It delivers customer service more efficiently and effectively than this
booklet which:
• is costly to produce
• uses up precious natural resources
• is harder and slower to complete and process
• is not secure like WebFile or E-File
• doesn’t automatically correct math mistakes
If you’re concerned about using a computer to file, I understand. We’ve made
every effort to create a comprehensive and easy-to-understand Help Library on
our WebFile for Income page (mass.gov/webfile). Of course, you can also E-File
through your tax preparer or from home using approved commercial software;
you may even be able to E-File from your local library’s computer! Regardless,
it’s a win for both you and DOR!
Let’s all make the change this year to E-File. Give it a try!
Have a great 2014!
Sincerely,
Commissioner Amy A. Pitter
