2COAL, LIGNITE and THORIUM
The taxable value of coal and lignite is:
(1) its sale price if it has been sold or
(2) its market value if it has not been sold;
less any rental or royalty payment belonging to the United States or the State of South Dakota or its political subdivisions.
PETROLEUM, OIL and GAS
The taxable value of petroleum, oil and gas is:
(1) the posted field price per unit at the point of production,
less any rental or royalty payment belonging to the United States or the State of South Dakota or its political subdivisions.
URANIUM
The taxable value of uranium is:
(1) the sales price per pound of the content of triuranium octa-oxide contained in uranium ore or processed yellow-cake
concentrate if it has been sold or
(2) the market value of the triuranium octa-oxide in such material if it has not been sold
less any rental or royalty payment belonging to the United States or the State of South Dakota or its political subdivisions.
TAX DUE
The tax is due upon the occurrence of the first of any of these three events:
(1) The energy mineral is sold; or
(2) the energy mineral is transported out of South Dakota, or
(3) the energy mineral is consumed
