Employee Office Moving Information
Packing Information
1.
DESKS & WORKSTATIONS – Completely pack the contents of your desk and/or workstation. We suggest you place loose
small items such as paper clips, pens and rubber bands in an envelope or plastic bag and then in a carton.
2.
FILE CABINETS – If your file cabinets will not be moving with you to your new location please empty all contents into the
provided cartons. Otherwise, vertical files may be moved with only the bottom two drawers loaded all other drawers need to
be packed. Lateral files need to have the entire contents packed prior to being moved. Please make sure files are unlocked
on moving day. Also, if your cabinets are to be reassigned to someone else, the entire contents should be packed.
3.
BOOKCASES – All books and items on bookcases will need to be packed. The contents should be placed in cartons.
4.
SMALL OFFICE MACHINES – Such as calculators, radios, pencil sharpeners, radios, etc. should be packed in cartons.
5.
PACKING SUGGESTIONS – Cartons may be filled to the top with non-breakable items. Make sure the two top flaps can
completely close in order to stack cartons safely. After packing, place a label on the small end and stack cartons with the
label facing out. As a rule, if something can fit in a carton it should be packed.
Labeling Items
1.
LABEL PLACEMENT - Please refer to the diagram below for the proper label placement on furniture, equipment and cartons.
2.
ITEMS WITH MULTIPLE PIECES – Each detachable piece will require a label. For example, a bookshelf needs a label on the
unit and a label on each shelf. A desktop computer will require a label for the monitor, CPU and related peripherals such as
printers, keyboards, scanners and other items associated with the computer.
3.
USING THE APPROPRIATE LABEL - Please be sure to use your assigned color label when labeling your items.
4.
FREQUENTLY OVERLOOKED ITEMS - include Waste Baskets, Whiteboards, Desk Pads, Chair/Floor Mats, and Wall Art.
5.
EVERYTHING THAT IS MOVING MUST BE LABELED – If an item is not labeled the movers will assume that item is not to
be moved.
COMPUTER EQUIPMENT – Please consult with your company move coordinator for procedures to prepare your desktop computer. If
you have a laptop computer please make arrangements to take the computer yourself.
*
Often times a company will not be responsible for missing or damaged personal items. You may consider moving these items yourself.
