Select points can be earned through activities such as:
* Read a book in Spanish or in English that relates to Spanish culture outside of school
requirements (please show your teacher your book before you start reading it. No more than
one book per week. You may find books in Spanish in our library. Stick with green labeled
books) (5-10)
* Bring in resources such as newspaper and magazine articles, artwork, or cartoons related to a
class topic and sharing those resources with your fellow students (4 per quarter only - 5 pts)
* Bring some household items such as manuals, packaging, and product labels to share with
your classmates (5)
* Produce your own piece of artwork (visual, musical, written, or multi-media) related to a
topic discussed in class (5-10)
* Write a movie, concert, or book review that relates to Spanish culture (10)
* Write poetry, a song or other creative writing that reflects on your understanding of Spanish
language (four per quarter only - 5 pts each)

more points: tell us about that conversation (5-10)
* Bring something from a foreign Spanish speaking country such as a flag, a map, a calendar,
souvenirs etc. You may borrow these items from family or friends (5)
 For each assignment we want to know, what Spanish you heard or saw and what you
understood. For creative projects we want to know how and why this is important and
related to the Spanish speaking world.
 Always cite your sources
 When presenting what you learned, don’t just read to us, tell us what you did.
Remember, these are not extra credit opportunities. You must record your select points on the Select
Point Record Sheet and have it signed by the appropriate authority. Get started now; don’t wait until
the end of the quarter! Don’t forget to record and authorize your points as you finish the work.
Warning: Do not lose your Select Point Record Sheet and remember it is YOUR responsibility to
record your points and turn this sheet at the due date.
