[DATE]
Honorable [FIRST MI LAST]
County Judge Executive [OR]
Mayor of [CITY]
[MAILING ADDRESS]
[CITY], Kentucky [ZIP CODE]
Dear Judge Executive [OR] Mayor [LAST NAME],
The year 1990 was proclaimed by a Joint Congressional Resolution and Presidential
Proclamation as the International Year Of Bible Reading. Since then, the majority of our
Governors have signed similar proclamations, as well as a number of individual city officials.
With the world in complete chaos and events breaking daily from every section of the globe, we
are all aware that we have many needs today in our nation, our state, our county, and our city.
Many in our community believe these needs can be met and these problems solved only
through our return to the basic Christian beliefs this nation was founded upon.
To that end, we intend on ringing in 2016 with a marathon reading of the Bible from the first
verse in Genesis to the last verse in Revelation. The reading will begin the first minute of
January 1, 2016, and continue non-stop until the Bible has been read in its entirety. That should
occur in four (4) days time. In order for this to be successful -- and hopefully a turning point for
our community -- we need your assistance.
First, we would like to conduct this reading in a public forum such as the County Courthouse,
town square, or Judicial Center. If you could direct us as to how we can reserve a particular
location for this event, that would be helpful.
Secondly, would you consider bringing before the Fiscal Court [OR City Council] a Resolution
proclaiming January 1 – 8, 2016, as “Bible Reading Week” in [NAME OF COUNTY OR CITY]?
Such a proclamation would encourage our community’s citizens to refocus their hearts and
minds towards the Creator who our Founding Fathers often acknowledged and sought after in
their own endeavors.
In order to address these requests, I will soon be contacting your office to set a mutually
convenient time for us to meet. At that meeting, we can discuss these issues and determine the
best way forward. At that time, I can also answer any questions you may have regarding this
very meaningful way to bring in the New Year.
I appreciate the work you have done while in office. Anything that you and your office can do to
assist us will not only be appreciated, but it will likely be of great benefit to our community. I look
forward to working with you and your office on this project.
Sincerely,
