Grade State Report Guidelines.
Week 3. Monday, March 13 – Friday, March 17.
This week we will be gathering information about our state in class and at home.
We will be using this information in the coming weeks as we begin to write out
the script for our presentation. We will continue to practice writing answers in
complete sentences. Please write your answers in final draft form (in pen; correct
grammar, punctuation, and spelling; single spaced) on a lined piece of paper with
the numbered questions and then the answer on the line below. Please skip a line
between questions.
1. What native peoples lived in your state?
2. What kind of houses did they live in? What did they make them out of?
3. When did settlers arrive?
4. What kind of jobs did the settlers have?
5. Name three important historical figures that came from your state and describe why
they are important.
6. What is the state capital?
7. Who is the governor?
8. What is the state bird?
9. What is the state song?
10. What is the state flower?
11. What is the state tree?
12. What is one other thing that you would recommend that people do when they visit
your state? Why should they do this? Is there a certain time of year they should do this?
Is it best for a certain age? What should they expect before they arrive? Should they
bring anything with them? What are three adjectives you would use to describe this
experience?
