Setting up
1. Set up a microscope and turn on the light.
2. On the stage, place a slide containing a stained preparation of Allium (onion root tip).
3. Locate the growth zone of the onion root tip. It is just above the root cap at the very
end.
4. Focus on low power, and then switch to medium or high power. Below are pictures of
the four stages of mitosis. Use them to help you identify the different stages on the
microscope slide.
