Algebra 2
Unit Conversions Worksheet
There are several ways to convert units. Each example below walks you through the steps of a
different method. When doing the problems you should choose the method that you find the
easiest to understand and that results in the most accurate results.
1. Bridge method: You will draw a diagram that looks sort of like a bridge. Each column in
the bridge will represent a particular unit or conversion factor. Multiply or divide the
numbers as appropriate, and reduce units that appear in both the numerator and
denominator.

4.4 feet
3 miles
5280 feet
1 hour

2. Proportions method: Useful when there is only one conversion factor needed, you will set
up a proportion just like we did in Algebra. Solve by cross multiplying.

3. Multiply or divide by the appropriate unit conversion factor. (Note: This only works if you
are 100% sure of how to convert and is not recommended for most conversions.)
