How to read guitar chords.
Being able to read a chord chart means that
you can work out how to play any chord by
simply following the diagram - you just know
how to read it. These chord diagrams are a
TUNING PEGS
combination of strings, frets and fingers - they
tell you where to put your fingers to create a
NUT
chord. - Then all you have to worry about is
strumming.
A chord chart is a picture of the top of a guitar:
FINGERBOARD
FRETS
1ST STRING
6TH STRING
(HIGHEST)
(LOWEST)

SOUND HOLE
dNut
dFingers
dFrets
BRIDGE
BODY
Strings
Do some personal research and find out the
purpose of each of these parts of a guitar.
Some basic guitar chords:
Tuning pegs:
Frets:
Sound hole:
Nut:
Try and play each chord. They are easier than
they look. Just plot each finger one at a time
with a combination of strings and frets.
Bridge:
Eg. 1st finger in the 2nd fret on the 3rd string.
