Principal-Civil Engineering
to:
Position Summary: Serve as Civil Engineer for a variety of routine
engineering projects, including but not limited to the following type of
projects: site development, transportation, water supply, wastewater,
utility infrastructure, stormwater management and sustainable design.
Responsible for performing civil engineering duties in planning,
design, construction, of civil engineering projects.
Assists in preparing
preliminary and final design drawings, construction specifications and cost
estimates, and engineering reports.
Essential Duties (Major Responsibilities/Activities):
Produce designs using AutoCad and Civil3D.
Performs research and investigations.
Performs moderate level design tasks and prepares portions of project
documents.
Assigns tasks to and coordinates work with entry-level engineers,
technicians, and/or administrative staff.
Works independently and collaboratively on planning, design and/or
research on conventional civil engineering projects.
Evaluates, analyzes, selects, and applies standard techniques, procedures
and criteria for a wide range of civil engineering projects.
Assists in field investigations and site visits for observation of
construction.
Assists in determining project schedule and budget requirements.
Assists in communication with clients, consultants or other official
contacts relating to specific assignments or meetings.
Keeps informed of new developments and requirements of the civil
engineering profession.
Assists project managers, project engineers or principal in charge with
more complex civil engineering projects.
Analyzes survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography,
and other topographical or geologic data to plan projects.
Exercises and uses sound discretion and independent judgment.
