Procedures
For the last few years, we have found it very helpful to log into the FTB website as tax preparers and
confirm all estimated tax payments, withholding and other information related to our
clients’
accounts.
The FTB has revised those procedures and now will send a letter to you whenever we access your
account with the FTB. Please note that this is a “View Only” process and we cannot do anything with
your account other than confirm information.
Although we are working with other tax
professionals and FTB representative to simplify the process (as well as save postage!), we wanted you
to be aware that if you receive such a letter with one of our tax professionals listed, that it is legitimate.
Unfortunately, the letter just identifies the individual and not the firm.
We have previously requested your authorization to access your online accounts with our engagement
letter. Attached is form 743 Franchise Tax Board Online Account View Access Authorization for you to
complete, sign and return to us.
We have confirmed with the Franchise Tax Board that our
engagement letter is sufficient; however, we are providing the form in case the rules change again!
