Course Description:
This course prepares participants to deliver Federal
Emergency Management Agency’s CERT Basic Training
course.
Course Goal:
This train-the-trainer course focuses on preparing instructors to:
1. Deliver the CERT Basic Training
2. Convey the messages and intent of the CERT Program (e.g., safety, teamwork, place in overall
community emergency operations plan)
3. Assure that students achieve the objectives of the CERT Basic Training
4. Create a comfortable, yet managed learning environment.
Prerequisite:
The prerequisites for attending the CERT Train-the-Trainer course include:
1. Must have a referral from a CERT sponsoring agency. The CERT sponsoring agency could be a
local, regional, or State government agency.
2. Must have completed the CERT Basic Training course.
Register:
This course is hosted locally by the County of San Diego Office of Emergency Services. Due to limited
course space, one spot has been held for each San Diego County CERT program. As available, additional
spots will be allotted from a waiting list.
