2x2 Reading Incentive

Kindergarten

The 2x2 list is a yearly list of 20 recommended books for children, age two to grade two.

These books are great books to read and share. Activity suggestions that correspond to the

books can be found on the official TXLA 2x2 website. We are encouraging family reading time

by providing this reading incentive program for your child. When you have a few minutes, take

some time to sit down with your child and read a 2x2 book. Your child will benefit immensely

and you’ll both have a great time. Enjoy!

Procedures

1. On the reading log, initial and date each book your child reads. Your child can count a

book if they are read to, read with, or read independently.

2. Title substitutions may be made from previous year’s lists, if a book from the current list

is unavailable.

3. 2x2 books do not have to be checked out from the school library. Other options may be:

public libraries, personal libraries, book stores, book fairs or digital versions.

4. When 20 books are read, turn in the reading log to the library.

5. Students will earn a dog tag to add to their chain. Only one dog tag can be earned per

school year.

6. Reading logs should be completed and turned in by May 1, 2017 to earn a dog tag.
