for International Applicants
Once recommended for admission, applicants from other countries must submit evidence of adequate support to cover the costs of one
full year of study at The University of Iowa before a certificate of Eligibility (I-20 or DS-2019) will be issued. A graduate research or
teaching assistantship may be used to satisfy this financial requirement. Students with dependents must include additional financial
support for any dependents who accompany them. The University cannot be expected to provide students with financial assistance
beyond any that my already have been awarded.
BE SURE to attach the appropriate supporting documents mentioned in items “a” through “f” (e.g., all the items) below. Your
admission cannot be finalized (nor can your immigration document be issued) without proper certification of financial ability to
provide support. If the information necessary to complete the Financial Statement is not available at the time you apply, you may
submit the Statement separately at a later date.
