Driver Certification requirements:
Age- You must be 21 years of age or older.
English Proficiency – You must be able to pass an English proficiency test
given by the Authority.
Social Security Card
Permanent Resident Card or Passport (if applicable)
Work Authorization Card (if applicable)
Driver’s License – You are giving consent for PPA to perform a 5 year PA
Driver Record check with PENNDOT.
HOWEVER
- You must have had a valid US drivers license for the immediate past full year
prior to applying or renewing. Any suspensions within the past year may be the
cause for denial of certification.
- If you have lived anywhere else besides Pennsylvania within the past 5 years
you must provide a State issued driving record from those States for the amount
of time you lived there up to 5 years.
- Your driving record may not show that you have been convicted of a DUI.
Criminal Record Check -
You are giving consent for PPA to perform a Pennsylvania
Criminal Record search.
HOWEVER
If you have held a Drivers License in any other State within the past 5 years you
must provide a State issued Criminal Record for the length of time you resided
outside of PA.
Your criminal record must be free of any felonies within the past 5 years. As
well as any finding of guilt or a plea of guilty or nolo contendere relating to the
crimes listed in section 1001.10 relating to definitions.
Additionally, you will not be eligible for certification for a period of 6 months
after the completion of any sentence imposed, including incarceration, probation
and parole.
If you are currently under the Accelerated Redemption Disposition program
(ARD) the terms of the ARD must be completed prior to applying.
