POSITION SUMMARY
As an employee of the Kingsbury Club, this person will be the on-site massage/muscular therapist. This person will be available for
massages scheduled by the front desk, and as needed by the members and staff at the Club during scheduled hours. Included in the
position will be administrative duties pertaining to the function of the department. This incumbent must be able to work in a fast-paced
environment with demonstrated abilities as described, and to seek supervisory assistance as appropriate.
Incumbents within this position may be required to assist or find appropriate assistance to make accommodations for disabled
individuals in order to ensure access to the Kingsbury Club’s services (may include: visitors, clients, employees, or others).
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this
position. They are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties, responsibilities, and skills required of personnel so classified.
Massage/Muscular Therapy/Other (as trained and qualified)
This person will stock and prepare the room (including regulating temperature), table, linens, music and lotions and will conduct each
massage in a professional manner. Each massage will be preceded by an intake evaluation, including a medical intake form (pages
one and two), a S.O.A.P. note, and any medical clearance, if needed.
Marketing
This person will develop and implement a plan to market and promote the department and to educate and inform our members on the
benefits of muscular therapy. Marketing will include the use of flyers, posters, and public service announcements throughout the Club
and the community. All aspects of massage should be visible throughout the fitness facility and throughout the Club. Marketing and
facilitation will benefit the therapist by increasing exposure, and subsequently, attaining more appointments. Therapist is required to
take part in promotional chair massage hours.
Facilitation
This person will develop a plan to facilitate massage-related curriculum offered at the Club, and will continually develop new programs
based on the need and interest of the members regarding the knowledge of the benefits of massage.
Laundry
Linens must by laundered at the end of the shift, or as needed. The front desk employees and the massage therapist will work out a
schedule to help each other out with transferring laundry from washer to dryer, as the front desk staff handles the towels for the Club.
Resource
This person will serve as a resource for information and education within the Club and community on all aspects of massage/muscular therapy.
Administrative Duties
Administrative duties will include:
1.
keeping the massage book at the front desk updated with daily appointment pages; insuring that intake forms, payroll slips, tri-fold
flyers, handouts, etc., are available and stocked; making copies of all intake pages and making new client folders.
2.
collecting receipts from front desk for payroll.
3.
duties may vary, according to the current health promotion offered. These duties will be performed when there are no massage
appointments scheduled, and should be kept up on a daily basis.
4.
cleaning and dusting the room and sanitizing the table, radio, etc., after each client.
Qualification/Skills and Knowledge Requirements
This position requires complete training, certification, and license by a reputable massage/muscular institute. Must be licensed by the
Town of Kingston, MA. CPR certification is required. Ongoing studies in the field are strongly encouraged. Background and experience
in marketing massage service is required. Must be articulate and creative, with an ability to work well in a fast-pace setting in a health
club atmosphere. Excellent communication skills are required. Empathy and listening skills are a must. Therapist will report to direct
Manager/Supervisor.
