SENATE BILL 05-014 EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2005
Allows a vehicle purchaser to operate the vehicle prior to obtaining plates and registration
up to 36 hours, if the vehicle was purchased from someone other than a dealer on a Saturday,
Sunday or legal holiday or any day between 5:00PM and 8:00AM. This allowance also applies
if the vehicle is merely being driven from the place of purchase to the place where it will be
stored. The buyer must have a bill of sale signed by the buyer and seller that indicates the
date and time of purchase. The buyer must also be able to provide proof of insurance.
