Capo Magic Chart

Capo Magic…
How do I use a Capo to make a song easier to
sing?
When you put a Capo over a given fret of your guitar and play any chord, the actual
pitch of the chord that will be heard will be that many semitones higher than without a
Capo.
rd
So if you’re playing an E shaped chord, and your Capo is on the 3
fret, then the chord
that comes out will be a G – 3 semitones higher.
This does however mean that if you’ve got a song that’s currently too high for you to
sing, you can’t just play the same chord shapes and expect a Capo to make it lower for

In this case, use the chart overleaf to find a playable key and capo position that will produce the same pitch. Then
you can return to this page and move the capo down the neck – in line with the chart above – in order to make the
audible pitch lower and therefore easier to sing!
