Funny How Time Slips Away - E9th Verse 1- Key of D
There's a lot of cool stuff in this song! In fact you can just use the rhythm track as a
blues track and pick up all the neat chords with it. Listen to the rhythm track,
compare it to the chord chart provided and notice the following two chord sequences
which can be used on a lot of different types of songs. In fact the C6th part in verse 2
ends with one of these chord sequences as does the E9th part at the end of the song:
D,D#9,Am,G#7,G (1 to 4 transition) and D,Fmaj7,Em,D#9,D (turnaround in D or you can
return back to the A or 5 chord).
On the second chord sequence, the bass or rhythm
guitar can play an F#, F, E, D#,D on the bottom and you have a nice sequential walk
down. On my track you can hear the bass do this. On a standard guitar it's awsome
if you play the open D chord using your thumb on the bottom F# note, then play the
Fmaj7 barred with the low F and open E on top, open E minor, D9th at 6th fret and
back to D. It's also possible to tune your low guitar string to a D and play all these
notes sequentially.
E lowers 4,8 a half tone, F raises 4,8 a half tone
