3D Design 1
Welcome to 3D 1! This is an introduction class into the world of ceramics and
sculpture. This class will consist of Ceramics and other 3D materials.
Goals:
1.
Strengthen your 3-dimensional design skills.
2.
Fluently speak about art, critique, and discuss art.
3.
Creatively carry out and complete given projects.
Tardiness:
School’s policy will be followed. Be on time and prepared for class.
Seating Chart:
I will implement a seating chart after we have been at school for a few weeks, this
helps with passing out papers and for when there is a substitute, if there are no problems, it
will largely be up to you where how your seating chart looks.
Supplies:
You may want a sketchbook, notebook, or binder with pockets to keep papers and
notes in, you will need a regular wooden pencil or at least a pencil of some kind every
day. Most of the supplies will be provided by the school and you will be assigned a cubby to
share with another student to store any supplies or materials you may want to bring.
Safety:
Some supplies that are in the room or being used can be potentially harmful. Please
respect the supplies and follow any guidelines I give you with specific items.
For the safety of the entire class, please obey the following:
No eating or drinking in the classroom.
Do not lay, sit, or stand on the tables.
You will pay to repair any vandalism for which you are responsible.
Grading Scale:
I grade on: Effort in the classroom, Critiques/ discussion participation, and final
projects. Projects are worth various amounts of points.
Late Work:
I accept all work up until the semester ends. However if it is passed the due date it
goes in the grade book as a zero until it is turned in and that affects midterms, quarter
grades, and extended lunch. We move fairly quickly, so don’t get behind or it will be
difficult to catch up
Discipline:
Please respect yourself, your classmates, the teacher (myself or any other working
in my place), the supplies and projects.
We will have class critiques and I ask for honest opinions but not harsh comments and put
downs. I want to have fun in this class and hope you do as well. The more you participate,
the better the class will flow!
