Instructions to Scout: Everyone you listed on your Eagle application in requirement #2 should write a recommendation
letter. The Letter of Recommendation is confidential and is not to be returned directly to you. It should be sent or delivered in a
sealed envelope with your name to your Unit Committee person designated to collect Eagle recommendation letters to hold
until your Eagle Board of Review. Deliver this form to your chosen references at least 4 weeks before your intended Board of
Review date! Also give them an envelope addressed as shown in the example.
Instructions to Recommendation Writer: Thank you for participating in this young man's Boy Scout advancement. Your
comments are very important to his Eagle Board of Review, and are required as a part of his application for the rank of Eagle
Scout. This letter of recommendation should be based upon your personal interaction with the Eagle Scout candidate and
should take into consideration your observance of how he exemplifies the points listed below in the Scout Oath and the Scout
Law. If you need more space than is provided on this sheet, you may attach additional pages. Please address and send your
letter to the Troop Eagle Advisor designated on the enclosed envelope. The letter should not be given to the Scout. All of the
information we collect from you will be held in the strictest confidence, and will not be given to the Eagle Candidate or his
family! The contents will only be read by the district Eagle Board of Review, who are required to hold the information in
confidence, and all paperwork will be destroyed after an affirmative decision on the candidate's advancement has been
reached. If you would like the Scout to have this letter after the Eagle Board of Review, you can check the box on the first page
and it will be returned to him after his Eagle Board of Review.
