USED CAR BUYING WORKSHEET
If you find yourself in the market for a used car, you may want to check these
websites:
Once you find a car you’re considering, here’s some good questions to ask before you
invest your time actually looking at it. If the seller won’t answer these questions or
gives you answers that sound dishonest or inconsistent, chances are, you’re better off
to keep looking.
If you like the car once you’ve seen it, call us to arrange a time for our inspection.
After we inspect it, assuming its good, then you might choose to have the mechanicals
tested to further reduce your risk.
Use this worksheet to help you.
Year___Make__________Model________Color_______Mileage_______
Call the seller and ask directly:
Are there critical options (such as auto transmission, 4 doors, model type), that
are not listed in the advertisement?
Are you the original owner?
Do you have service records and who maintained it?
Is there anything worn-out, broken or damaged?
Has the car ever been involved in an accident or had paint work?
Why are you selling it?
Is the car garaged of left outside at night?
Does it leak any fluids?
Does it have a salvage title?
On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being best, how would you rate the overall condition?
Follow your intuition, if you feel that the seller is dishonest answering the above
questions, don’t hesitate to move on.
