Baptism Information
WHY BE BAPTIZED?
1. Because the Lord Jesus commanded it.
Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the
Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you
always, even to the end of the age." Amen. Matthew 28:19-20 NKJV
2. To follow the example set by Jesus.
It came to pass in those days that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was
baptized by John in the Jordan. Mark 1:9 NKJV
3. It demonstrates the outward obedience of the inward commitment I have made to follow
Jesus.
Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. 1Johnn 2:3
NKJV
4. It is the biblical way of demonstrating that I really am a follower of Christ.
Then Crispus, the ruler of the synagogue, believed on the Lord with all his household.
And many of the Corinthians, hearing, believed and were baptized. Act 18:8 NKJV
WHO SHOULD BE BAPTIZED? Every person who has repented of their sins and have faith
in Jesus Christ to save them from their sins.
Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of
Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as
the Lord our God will call." Act 2:38-39 NKJV
WHEN SHOULD I BE BAPTIZED? As soon as you have believed.
Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three
thousand souls were added to them. Act 2:41 NKJV
Then Philip opened his mouth, and beginning at this Scripture, preached Jesus to him.
Now as they went down the road, they came to some water. And the eunuch said, "See,
here is water. What hinders me from being baptized?" Then Philip said, "If you believe
with all your heart, you may." And he answered and said, "I believe that Jesus Christ is
the Son of God." So he commanded the chariot to stand still. And both Philip and the
eunuch went down into the water, and he baptized him. Act 8:35-38 NKJV
Baptism does not make you a believer, it shows that you already are a believer.
