Seating Chart Rationale
I particularly like this type of seating arrangement because students can easily participate
in pair work activities without too much hassle during class. I like that students are able to see
one another and have the chance to interact when needed. Communication from student to
student during class is easily accessible in that hearing, questioning, and interacting is constantly
available. In addition to the seating arrangement, I like the way our methods course is set up in
that each day name tags are placed randomly throughout the room. Each day, students are sitting
in different areas of the classroom with different students. With this, students are able to become
comfortable with all classmates and learn various concepts from various peers; a sense of
community is established when students are able to interact with everyone from the class. From
a teacher standpoint, the teacher is able to instruct and facilitate from all angles of the class.
He/She can see all students, monitor interactions, and comfortably instruct from the front of the
class.
