Security Rules and Regulations for Spring Adjudication Trip
Behavior – Students are expected to conduct themselves with class and maturity at all times. Students are
expected to follow all regulations and instructions contained in this handout, the Code of Student Behavior
listed in the 2013-2014 State College Area High School Student Handbook, and also all regulations and
instructions announced by the directors and chaperones during the trip. Chaperones will be “on duty” at all
times to meet students’ needs and enforce these rules and regulations. Students knowing of any potential rule
infractions are encouraged to bring their concerns to a chaperone’s attention with the assurance of anonymity,
if desired.
Alcohol and Drugs – Standard school regulations on smoking, alcohol, drugs, and other controlled
substances will be in effect for the entire trip. Students smoking, consuming drugs or alcohol, or found to be
under the influence of drugs or alcohol at any time during the trip will be returned home at the parent’s
expense on the first violation. In addition, students will be subject to the school disciplinary actions listed in
the 2013-2014 State College Area High School Student Handbook.
Luggage/Room Search – The directors and chaperones have the right to search a student’s luggage or
room to check for any illegal substances prior to departure or at any time during the trip if there is an
indication of reasonable suspicion.
Curfew - Hotel Rooms – Established by the Festival and Hotel as 11:00 p.m.
All students will be required to be in their rooms at the designated curfew hour and cannot leave their rooms
for any reason until 6:00 a.m. Chaperones will check rooms and make visual contact with each student at
curfew time. Chaperones and hotel security will be checking the halls, stairwells, and outside perimeter
throughout the night. During non-curfew hours, mixed gender groups may visit each others rooms,
however doors will remain fully opened at all times! Conduct must not infringe on the rights of the other
guests. Students should not create loud noises in the halls or any room by loud talking or playing radios,
televisions, video games, etc. at unreasonable levels. Students are not permitted to go to vending or ice
machines after curfew. Failure to follow these regulations may result in room assignment changes, a call to
your parents, and being sent home at the parent’s expense.
Morning Departure from Hotel Rooms – Students are not permitted to leave their hotel rooms earlier than
6:00 a.m. Students should remain in the hotel or the designated hotel beach area until the group departs for
trip activities. They must never travel alone.
Balconies - There will be no balcony climbing or room exchanges via balconies. There will be nothing
thrown from balconies.
Student Compliance – Students will not be allowed to attend the adjudication trip unless they and their
parent/guardian have agreed in writing to abide by these rules by reading this document, and then initialing
and signing the document as specified.
