Student: Moses – an 8-year old boy in an inclusion third grade.
Behavioral Objective
The behavior to be increased is hand raising in the classroom and the behavior to be
decreased is calling out in the classroom. Hand raising is defined as Moses silently
putting up his hand and not speaking until the teacher calls his name. Calling out is
defined as Moses talking to the teacher without putting his hand up and/or being called
on. Hand raising will be considered learned when Moses raises his hand on at least 5
separate occasions per day while not calling out at all for four consecutive days.
Initial Implementation:
The first rule for Moses is:
“I will raise my hand at least 1 time per period and not call out more than two times”

The contract is in effect for 6 periods per day. At the end of each period the teacher
indicates a “yes” –if Moses followed his rule and a “no” if Moses did not.
Response Requirements:
At the end of the day, if Moses has 4 “yes” –he can help the teacher feed the class pet
after school. If he gets 6 “yes” he can feed the class pet and take it out and play with it.
Criterion for Advancement:
When Moses gets all 6 “yes” for 2 consecutive days, the system will advance to level #1.
Level #1:
“I will raise my hand at least 2 times per period and not call out more than once”

five minutes.
