Oakland University’s annual Keeper of the Dream Scholarship Awards Banquet pays tribute to the
late civil rights leader, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and his vision for equality and racial harmony.
Mark you calendar for our twelfth annual banquet, Thursday, February 19, 2004. Planned by the
university’s Center for Multicultural Initiatives, the event helps the university community recognize
African-American Celebration month.
This year’s theme: Fulfilling the Dream through Education, once again honors outstanding students
who are receiving Keeper of the Dream Scholarship Awards. Through their campus and community
involvement, these students demonstrate exceptional leadership by helping to break down cultural
stereotypes, encouraging tolerance, and promoting harmony among all people. The students receive
their awards in the presence of 500 corporate supporters, community leaders, and Oakland
University faculty and staff.
