I will understand how and why the 13 colonies of America were founded and how they
compared to each other with respect to government, culture, geography, and economy.
Background & Directions
You are a new travel agency working for one of the American Colonies. You will need to
create a travel brochure that will catch the eye of the common European person. Your job is to
encourage people from Europe to move to your colony and settle there. You will then present
your travel brochure to the rest of the class. You will be graded on quality of research, quality
of presentation, quality of editing, work ethic, and your overall presentation.

4. What were 3-5 important events (with dates) in the history of the colony?
Government / Political System
1. What type of government is used in your colony?
2. Who is in charge of your colony?
3. Who can vote? Who can own property? How are these rights determined?
4. Is your form of government a good thing for the local people? Why or why not?
Economic System
1. What ways do people in your colony make a living?
2. What products are made in your colony?
3. What are the main natural resources of your colony?
4. Is my colony dependent on indentured servitude and/or slavery?
