Builder / REALTOR® Cooperation Program
Terms & Conditions
The Builder / REALTOR® Cooperative Program allows CHBA-ER members to
work with local Realtors to serve new home buyers in the Edmonton area.
The Builder/REALTOR® Cooperation Program allows CHBA-ER builder members and their sales people to
work in a mutually beneficial environment with realtor representatives to serve the prospective buyer.
Builders registering for the program will be listed on the chbaedmonton.ca website as well as on a roster
with the REALTORS® Association of Edmonton. Realtors will have current information on builders
participating in the program
A Code of Conduct between the participating builders and realtors must be adhered to and professional
protocol is expected.
Prior to viewing the builder’s property with their client, the realtor must introduce and register their
client in person with the builder’s representative. They must then accompany their client in person to
the showhome. This is the initial contact between the prospective purchaser and the builder. If the
builder or any of the builder’s representatives has had previous discussions with the prospective
purchaser, they may reserve the right not to sign the register.
Remuneration must be detailed on the registration form.
To register with the program, you must complete a Builder/REALTOR® Cooperation Program
Participation Agreement Form. There is a $100 annual fee to enroll your company in the
Builder/REALTOR® Cooperation Program. This fee contributes to the marketing materials, forms
supplied, and regular website updates.
CHBA – ER will provide the participation agreement forms, registration forms, and signage to be placed
in the showhome window with both the CHBA – ER and the REALTORS® Association of Edmonton logos.
The paperwork and forms are an essential part of the program and are required to ensure the complete
understanding of all participants (builders, REALTORS® and clients).
It is appreciated if the builders avoid using personalized forms. All forms are supplied and the
consistency of using the same form is advantageous for all parties.
It is important that all parties understand that all agreements must be in writing and that proper
registration of clients is critical. The builder must realize that REALTORS® bring value to the sale.
Builders should respect the realtor’s right to assist their client and receive appropriate compensation.
Realtors must also realize when to step back and let the builder complete the sale according to their
process.
Participation in the Builder/REALTOR® Cooperation Program is entirely voluntary.
