CRIMINAL RECORD EXPUNGEMENT PROCEDURE
INSTRUCTIONS & FEES
1.
Provide cash or two cashier’s checks or money orders [must be U.S. Postal Service money
orders only] made payable to “Jefferson Parish Clerk of Court”:
a.
$60.00 (misdemeanors only) (clerk of court’s filing fee and administrative costs
fee—NON-REFUNDABLE) [La. R.S. 13:847(E)(1)(c) & La. R.S. 44:9(3)(b)] PLUS
copy and other fees allowed by 13:847(A).
b.
$350.00 (Bureau of Criminal Identification and Information, JPSO, and District
Attorney fees—refundable if expungement is denied)
NOTE: You will not be required to pay filing fees if you obtain a letter of
certification from the District Attorney’s Felony Records Division, 200 Derbigny
St., Gretna, stating that you have no felony convictions or pending felony charges
and
a.
you were found not guilty at trial;
b.
you did not participate in a pretrial diversion program;
c.
your case was dismissed or nolle prosequi if you were not prosecuted within
time limitations established by law or the district attorney declined to
prosecute.
d.
this does not apply to any plea of Article 894.
2.
You must obtain a Review of Record from the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, 1233 West
Bank Expressway, Harvey, LA 70058, (504) 363-5541.
The fee for this service is $50.00 (NON-REFUNDABLE)[CASH ONLY].
***IMPORTANT--The Review of Record must be obtained within 30 days of
filing the Motion and Order for Expungement.***

The Jefferson Parish Clerk of Court’s Office is prohibited by law from practicing law.
Therefore, this office cannot assist you in completing the Motion for Expungement forms.
You must either complete them yourself or seek qualified legal counsel for assistance.
Return the original form with 12 photocopies (needed for service during the expungement
process) PLUS any copies you wish to have clocked in. If the clerk has to make any
photocopies, you will be charged accordingly.
