Coaching Agreement

I, ____________________________ _____, have read and agree to support the Y-Winners philosophy.

Toward the endeavor, I will do my best to act in accordance with the following standard:

I will:

1) Give everyone an equal opportunity to play

2) Not discriminate on the basis of sex, race, religion or ethic origin

3) Emphasize learning and growth more than winning

4) Be a model of good sportsmanship for my players

5) Not cheat nor condone the breaking of any rules

6) Refrain from using profanity and will not tolerate its use from others

7) Discuss any differences in a calm manner with coaches and/or referees and refrain from

emotional outbursts

8) Show respect and good will towards my opponents

9) Encourage players verbally and by example, to handle winning and losing with dignity; I will

neither gloat nor pout

10) Work toward educating parents in the YMCA Philosophy and encourage them to abide by it

11) Work towards building self-esteem in each child

12) Show good sportsmanship by lining up to shake hands at the end of every game

I further agree to fulfill the following responsibilities:

I will:

1) Do my best to be on time and will let the Sports Director know if I expect to be late or absent

2) Keep track and protect any issued equipment

3) Alert parents and Sports Director of any extended absence

4) Never coach under the influence of drugs or alcohol

5) Protect the physical and psychological health and safety of all participants
