2. Convert percents to decimals by moving the decimal point to the left exactly 2
places. Then remove the % sign. **Add zeros if necessary
*If you do not see a decimal it falls at the end of the number on the right hand side
example: 45 %
045.
0.45
*Groups of Numbers: Change all numbers to either decimals or percents and use
original #’s in your answer. (If you choose to change to decimals line up the #’s to
compare)
3. Convert fractions to percents by writing an equivalent fraction with a denominator
of 100. Remember to find the number to get from 4 to 100, which is times 25, and
multiply by the same number on top. Then convert the equivalent fraction to a percent
(the numerator becomes the percent.)
× 25
example: 3
=
75
75
75%
4
= 100
100
× 25
* If you can't write an equivalent fraction with a denominator of 100, then you must
divide the fraction to get a decimal. Then convert the decimal to a percent.
example:
4 (being divided)
0.571
*Round to decimal to
7 (dividing into)
7 4.000
the nearest
-35
hundredths place.
50
Then convert the
-49
decimal to a percent.
10
-7
0.571
0.57
57%
4. Convert percent to fraction by putting the number over 100.
÷ 20
*Remember to take the % sign away!
20
=
1
example:
20%
20
*Simplify if you can!
100
