Appeal Process
How to submit a Notice of Appeal:
• Complete sections 1 and 2 on the reverse side.
• The Notice of Appeal must be submitted within 30 days of the date of the incident.
• Appeals will not be accepted unless full payment has been made.
How is a decision made and how will I be notified?
• The appeal will first be reviewed by The Director, Parking Services. If it is granted a copy of the Notice
of Appeal and a cheque will be mailed to you.
• If Parking Services denies the appeal it will be forwarded to the Parking Appeals Review Committee for
their decision. You have the option of attending this hearing in person to present any further comments
or information. Indicate on the front of this form if you wish to be contacted.
• If the Parking Appeals Review Committee grants the appeal a copy of the Notice of Appeal and a
cheque will be mailed to you.
• If the Parking Appeal Review Committee denies the appeal a copy of the Notice of Appeal will be
mailed to you.
Can I appeal the decision of the Parking Appeals Review Committee?
• As per SFU Policy AD 1.03 all decisions made by the Parking Appeals Review Committee are final.
Who presides on the Parking Appeals Review Committee?
• The committee is comprised of one representative from each SFU employee groups and one member
from the SFU Student Society. The committee acts as an impartial and unbiased forum and is not
connected in any way to the parking enforcement process. All committee decisions are by majority
vote.

57. Appeals
Any person wishing to dispute the issuance of a Traffic Offence Notice, other incurred penalty or special
parking issue may submit a written appeal for consideration by The Director, Parking Services. The appeal
should include all relevant facts pertaining to the incident/issue and normally must be submitted within 14
calendar days but in no case later than 30 days of the date of the incident or decision. The appeal will either be
granted by the Director, Parking Services or forwarded to the Appeals Committee to review at their next
regularly scheduled meeting.
58. Composition of the Appeals Committee
The Appeals Committee shall be comprised of one representative from SFUFA, APSA, CUPE, Poly Party,
TSSU, and SFSS. Quorum shall be three members. The Chair will be selected by the members.
59. Authority of the Appeals Committee
The Appeals Committee has the authority to confirm, vary or overturn any parking infraction and its associated
penalty. The decision of the Appeals Committee requires a simple majority vote and is final.
