YOUR REQUEST MUST BE RECEIVED AT LEAST TWO BUSINESS DAYS PRIOR to the date of the
training class. Classes are held on Tuesdays at 3:00 p.m. & Fridays at 8:30 a.m. – You will be notified by
e-mail or phone if we are unable to accommodate your request to attend the class listed above. Please
arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time to allow time for the clerk to identify
you, collect the fee, and administer & file the oath of office.
Additional Requirements in order to be appointed as a Deputy Marriage Commissioner for a Day in Sonoma
County:

In all cases, parties to the marriage MUST purchase their marriage license in California.
•
Person being appointed to perform the ceremony must sign up to attend a training class, at which time
you will be sworn in as a Deputy Marriage Commissioner for a Day & attend a 30 – 45 minute training
class at the County Clerk’s Office which will include instructions on California’s requirements for
performing a marriage ceremony. A fee of $133.00 payable by cash or check, together with your valid
photo identification will be required at the time of your appointment.
