Winter Parking Permit Information

Although St. Louis Park's snow removal ordinance restricts parking after a snowfall, permits for on-street parking are

granted under special circumstances. Any vehicle displaying a City-issued permit may park on the street during snow

removal operations. If you have any questions, please call (952) 924-2562.

The Ordinance

Whenever it snows three or more inches, no parking is allowed on the street at anytime. On-street parking is permitted

after the street has been plowed to the curb.

Permit Criteria

To qualify for a parking permit (good for the 2014-2015 winter season), households must meet one of these criteria:

1. The household has NO garage or driveway (eligible for two free permits per household), or

2. The household has off-street parking for only one vehicle, but owns two vehicles (eligible for one free permit), or

3. The household has off-street parking for only one vehicle, but owns three or more vehicles (receives one free permit

but must pay $125 each for any other permits), or

4. The household has off-street parking for two vehicles, but owns three or more vehicles ($125/permit, limit two), or

5. The household requires the aid of a licensed caregiver but does not have sufficient off-street parking for the

caregiver’s vehicle ($25 fee for permit/limit one permit per household).

Permit Rules

1. You will be issued a sticker to be placed on the driver’s side rear bumper of the vehicle(s) identified below in the

application section.

2. The permit is valid only in front of the permit holder’s address. Vehicles that are parked in front of a

neighbor’s house or other addresses are subject to the same ticketing and towing penalties as non-permit

holders.

3. Please be aware that even permitted vehicles will be plowed in when snowplows pass by. Permitted vehicles

must be moved within 24 hours of being plowed in or they are subject to tagging and towing.

How to Apply

Please fill out the application below. Mail your application and check (made payable to the “City of St. Louis Park”, if

applicable) to: Municipal Service Center, 7305 Oxford Street, St. Louis Park, MN 55426. After receiving your

application, a City Official will review your parking situation to see if it meets the permit criteria. If your application is

accepted, your permit will be mailed to you. If your application is denied, you will be notified in writing.
