We have major road safety issues in our area from a clean fill site situated 32-38 Nixon road Taupaki.
Heavy truck and truck trailer units going to and from the access at 38 Nixon road have destroyed the road
within a few months to the point it now needs a complete rebuild. This road is putting lives at risk.
Nixon road is now not fit for purpose for traffic let alone heavy traffic, it is a poorly designed narrow
secondary road that has blind corners and undulations. The original Clean fill consent was a non notified
consent, we had no say in the decision making process of this activity in our community. Why are these
consents made non -notified which lack transparency and evidence of due diligence?
Mark Hannan, Auckland Transport Media Relations Manager is quoted in the Nor West News as saying
in reference to Nixon Road “the road is not designed to handle the amount of truck movements and AT
are constantly having to patch the road”.

The cost of numerous failed patching jobs has amounted to nearly $100,000 from June to November
2016, and now needs to be rebuilt according to AT staff, a cost to be borne by the rate payer.
Amriens Road repairs cost the rate payer $110,000 as a result of recent landfill activities and now it
appears due to recent site access signage, the site is to be reopened again, which was previously closed
down due to non- compliance.
Nixon road is a recognised NZTA black spot road and also part of the national cycle way from Kaipara to
Massey. Nixon road is severely damaged and is now not safe for traffic, cyclists or pedestrians.
There has now been two serious crashes with multiple injuries involving a motor cyclist and car and a car
th.
versus car on December 8
The motor cyclist was admitted to hospital. The reported cause was the road
conditions. We fear for our lives on this road and have had no satisfaction with months of complaints to
Auckland Council or Auckland transport.
