APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
FUNDAMENTALS OF LAND SURVEYING EXAM (FLS)
FUNDAMENTALS OF ENGINEERING EXAM (FE)
GENERAL INFORMATION
PLEASE READ the application, statutes, regulations, and these instructions before completing your application. Applications will be processed
according to the date received by the licensing examiner. The board meets four times a year, usually in February, May, August, and November.
Written notification of action taken by the board will be mailed approximately three weeks after the board meeting. All documents received prior
to receipt of application will be held up to one year and matched with an application upon receipt.
APPLICATION DEADLINE: Applications must be received in the Juneau office of the Division of Occupational Licensing by the deadline date,
which is 90 days before the date of the examination (see 12 AAC 36.050). All necessary Work Verifications, letters from ABET accredited
universities, or transcripts must be received by the "supporting documents" deadline date. (12 AAC 36.050(a)(2))

SUPPORTING
All supporting documents, i.e., work experience verifications, official transcripts, verification of registration
and examination must be received in the Juneau office no later than ten days before the date of the next

scheduled board meeting. There will be no exceptions. Contact the Division of Occupational Licensing,

board meetings for 2000: August 24-25 and November 16-17; for 2001: February 15-16 and May 17-18.
POSTPONING EXAM
If you have received written notice of approval to sit for an exam, you must submit a written request for
postponement and a $25.00 postponement fee no later than 30 days immediately following the date of
examination (see 12 AAC 36.070 and 12 AAC 02.105(8)).
12 AAC 36.040. An applicant who has failed the examination may, within 18 months of notification of the

failed examination, reapply for examination. The request to retake the exam must be filed with the

department at least 45 days before the examination date. Another examination fee is required.
Effective July 27, 1997, an applicant may apply for reexamination no more than four times within five years
after the date that the applicant filed the original application for examination. If the applicant has not
passed the exam after five attempts or within the five years after first applying for the exam, the applicant
will be subject to submitting a new application under 12 AAC 36.010.
FEES
The application fee required is the nonrefundable fee in effect on the date the application is received by the Division of Occupational Licensing.
The exam fee and license fee which are in effect on the date of exam or date of initial licensure are the required fees.
*In the event exam or license fees change after you have applied, the amount due will be recalculated based on the fees in effect at the time of
exam or licensure.
SPECIAL EXAM NEEDS
Programs under the jurisdiction of the Division of Occupational Licensing are administered in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
If you require a special accommodation when taking the licensing examination, you must submit a completed Request for Accommodation Form
which is included in this application. Requests for special accommodations must be received on or before the stated application deadline.
Also, the special accommodation request will be considered in conjunction with the National Council of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors
policies.
