The mission for Primary Industries and Regions SA (PIRSA) is to grow sustainable and competitive
regions. Our focus on growing industries and regional development includes a range of diverse interests
associated with research, policy development, biosecurity and integrated solutions in agriculture,
forestry, wine, seafood, and food. PIRSA is also responsible for the continued development of our
regional areas and harnessing opportunities from regional industries that support resilient communities.
PIRSA comprises of approximately 1100 people working in locations across metropolitan and rural South
Australia.
Within the framework of South Australia’s Strategic Plan (SASP), the agency maintains a key focus on
economic development, increasing economic value from the primary industry sector in support of the
SASP target to grow the contribution made by the South Australian food industry to $20 billion by 2020.
Critical to the agency achieving the goals of SASP is its ability to provide leadership and expertise, and
to develop constructive partnerships with industry, other levels of government, and the wider community.
The knowledge, skills and experience of its people are integral to achieving PIRSA’s goals.
The role of the Minister’s Office is to provide executive, administrative and secretarial support as well as
advice to the Minister on government policy, Cabinet, statutory requirements, cross-issues with other
portfolios, liaison with the Department, other Government Agencies, Ministers, Members of Parliament
and relevant organisations and officials, projects, research and briefings.
The Receptionist is accountable to the Office Manager for the provision of a reception, managing
telephone enquiries and clerical support service that contributes to the overall effectiveness and service
of the Minister’s Office.
REPO RTING/WORKI NG REL ATIONSHIPS
To whom the person reports; staff for whom the person is responsible; and internal and external working relationships.
The Receptionist reports directly to the Office Manager and is required to liaise with a range of
stakeholders, including Chief Executives, Executive and senior management and staff within the
Agencies within the Ministerial Portfolio and other Agencies, management and staff in other government
agencies. Maintains close working relationships with the Senior Business Officer and Personal
Assistants.
