MAKE YOUR OWN:
Brazilian Carnival mask!
BACKGROUND:
Carnival is Brazil’s biggest and most popular holiday.
It takes place 6 weeks before Easter (right before
the beginning of Lent) and is celebrated for six days
with large scale parades. Participants dress in ornate
costumes and masks and the crowds sing and dance
along.
MATERIALS:
Piece of poster board or card stock
Paint, crayons, markers, feathers, stickers and other
things with which to decorate
Scissors
Rubber bands
INSTRUCTIONS:
Choose one of the mask templates on the following
pages and trace it onto your poster board or card
stock. Cut out the mask and decorate with colorful
designs. Cut two holes on either side of the mask and
knot the rubber band in each of the holes (this is what
will hold it on your head.) Enjoy!
