Kaleidoscope Foundation Block
A Kaleidoscope Block is cut from a pinwheel block.
Make a sample block to learn the technique before
cutting the fabric for your quilt.

IECING

Make four half-square triangles from

the 6" squares of light and dark

fabrics by placing a square of each
fabric right sides together, marking
Cut 2—6" Squares
across the diagonal, and sewing a

1/4” seam on either side of the line.
Cut 2—6" Squares
Cut on the line and press the seams

open. Each set of squares yields
two half-square triangles. Trim these
finished half-square triangles to 5".

Sew four half-square triangles
together to form a pinwheel. Press
the seams open.

ALEIDOSCOPE

Glue the kaleidoscope template to
the wrong side of the pinwheel block,
matching the lines on the template to
the seam lines of the pinwheel. The
kaleidoscope block instructions state
which fabric should be on the corners.
Place the template accordingly.

Place the 6-1/2" Creative Grids™
Square It Up & Fussy Cut ruler on

top of the template so that the
