City regulations require vaccination and licensing of all dogs and cats within 30 days after reaching 4 months of age. A late
license fee may be imposed for any dog or cat license that is obtained more than 30 days after: (1) the date that the dog or
cat became 4 months old; (2) the adult dog or cat was acquired or brought into the city; or (3) the expiration of a previously
issued license.
**Senior Exemption
Offered to owners 65 years or older. Proof of age required (i.e. valid driver’s license or government ID).
In San Jose, Cupertino, Los Gatos, and Saratoga: One free license per household, if pet is spayed or neutered.
In Milpitas: One free license per household - spayed or neutered not required.
