How to Fold a
Hexahexa-
flexagon
A hexahexaflexagon is a folded polygon that appears to have two sides but actually has six. To make a
hexahexaflexagon, start by cutting out one of the templates provided, shown in the image below.
Pre-crease along every line as precisely as possible. Now, starting at one end, fold along the green
dotted lines. This should twist the strip around itself so that it looks like the diagrams below.
Front
Back
Orient your strip as shown below. Fold the top of the strip down in front of the shape, along the green
dotted line, to obtain the shape in the centre diagram. Now fold the bottom of the strip up and behind
the shape, along the green dotted line. Tuck the right hand blue triangle behind to obtain the shape in
the rightmost diagram. Note that the ball of yarn in each logo is in the centre. Lastly, fold the red triangle
to the back, turn the shape over, and glue the red triangle in
place (the back side should now be entirely red).
In addition to the red, blue, and logo sides, there are
also three white sides. Try to find and colour them all!
Your flexagon is now ready to flex! See the instruction
sheet on how to flex a flexagon for more details.
