The requirement to complete the listening log homework is 30 minutes of classical music each week. This can be
done while doing other activities, except watching TV. Types of classical music include symphony orchestras,
operas, ballets, choral works, and works by classical composers such as Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Liszt,
Rachmaninoff, Copland, etc. Students are encouraged to listen to different types of classical works each week.
Some sources to find classical music from are the radio (89.1 FM), Pandora, XM radio, CDs (you can find some at
your local library), and internet sources. Extra Credit can be earned the second half of the term by listening to an
additional 30 minutes, totaling one hour per week.
In support of the Utah Core and Utah Writes, students will be required to reflect on their listening and write a
response using complete sentences. Complete sentences have a subject and a verb, are not fragmented, and use
proper punctuation.
Listening logs with signatures are due at the end of each school week – either on Thursdays or Fridays (A days).
