Form Instructions

Applicants may put personalized license plates on any non-commercial registered car, truck, motor home and/or motorcycle. Commercial

vehicles like delivery vans or taxis may not carry personalized plates.

Each plate must contain at least one character (letter or number). Plates for cars, trucks or motor homes may use up to seven characters and

motorcycles may use up to six characters. A space between characters counts as one character. Characters must be in an upright position, and no

special characters (such as #, &, @, etc) may be used. The department may refuse to issue or recall any message that does not meet standards

of decency and good taste. If your choice(s) is not available, the department will return your fee.

Applicants may not switch personalized license plates from one vehicle to another unless a request for transfer is made to the applicant’s county

treasurer. A $5 license plate reassignment fee is assessed. If the vehicle is sold or otherwise transfered, the personalized plates must be

removed. Applicants may apply to the county treasurer to transfer plates to a newly acquired vehicle or to another vehicle that is owned by the

applicant. A $5 plate reassignment fee is assessed.

The message on the personalized plates will not be issued to another applicant until the personalized plates have been expired for one month.

Failure to renew your plates prior to one month after expiration could result in the message being reassigned.
