YOUR RECORDS ARE CLOSED TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC,
UNLESS YOU SPECIFICALLY "OPEN" THEM.
Beginning June 1, 2000, your vehicle and driver’s license records will be closed from public use. All records, "open" or
"closed" are available to parties who meet eligibility requirements listed in the Federal Driver Privacy Protection Act. Some
examples of eligible parties are courts and law enforcement. In compliance with the amendments to the Federal Driver Privacy
Protection Act, the Kansas Division of Vehicles is closing vehicle records to the public. Vehicle owners or holders of a Kansas
Driver’s License or Identification Card may release their vehicle records, to any business or individual specifically authorized
by the vehicle owner, by completing a TR/DL 301 form.
You may request your records "open" to public use when you register your vehicle, renew your vehicle registration and/or when
you apply for or renew your driver’s license. Your choice to have your vehicle owner and registration records, driver’s license
or identification card records "open” will not allow your record information to be sold for marketing purposes.
To request that your records be open, please check the appropriate box below and
provide the requested information. A request to open your records is required for each
vehicle and for your driver’s license or ID card.
