INSTRUCTIONS FOR REPORTING INTANGIBLE INFORMATION
1. Enter the company name, the State Board of Equalization assessee number (SBE No.), and the lien date year in the appropriate spaces provided.
2. Enter the value for each listed intangible, if applicable, in the boxes on lines 1 through 11, Columns D through G.
3. Enter individual values for intangibles, other than the ones listed, in the appropriate boxes on lines 13 through 20, Columns D through G. Describe
such intangibles under Column B. Note: You may attach additional sheets if more space is needed.
4. For any value entry made under Column G, describe the basis of each value in the corresponding box under Column H.
5. If any value is derived from your accounting records, enter the corresponding general ledger account number in the appropriate box under
Column C.
6. Attach supporting data, analyses, etc., for intangible value(s) reported under the cost, income, sale, and/or other bases.
7. If you have no intangibles to report (no entries are made on lines 1 through 20), check the box indicating no reportable intangibles or mark the
“N/A” box on the front of the BOE-517 indicating nothing to be reported.
8. Provide any additional explanation and clarification in the Comments section.
