Inspector General
Texas Health and Human Services Commission
The Inspector General (IG) is pleased to announce the IG Integrity Initiative (IGII), a new collaboration
between the IG and Medicaid providers, Managed Care Organizations (MCO), and any individual or entity
that receives Medicaid funding. The IGII will strengthen the effort to root out fraud, waste, and abuse in
Texas Medicaid by building a community policing framework structured on a statewide integrity network.
The IGII furthers the ethos embodied in the Texas Medicaid Provider Enrollment Agreement, which
requires providers, their employees, agents, and independent contractors to report fraud, waste, and
abuse to the IG. Most Medicaid providers comply with Medicaid laws and rules, but a fraction does not.
The IG is building a partnership with complying providers to help identify wrongdoers in the system--and
remove them.
To participate in the IG Integrity Initiative, members must:
Incorporate integrity into their Mission or Values Statement.
Report all fraud, waste, and abuse to the IG whenever and wherever they find it.
Train all staff on Medicaid integrity practices.
Include a link from the provider's website to the IG's website to report fraud, waste, and abuse.
Prominently display the IG's Integrity Line posters in high traffic areas.
The IG commits to working with all members of the IG Integrity Initiative by:
Establishing regular IGII meetings to enhance communication between the provider community
and the IG.
Establishing and maintaining on its website and publishing in the IG's Quarterly Report an active
list of IGII members.
Working in conjunction with the Health and Human Services Commission's Medicaid and CHIP
Division to develop and disseminate training videos for providers providing guidance on best
practices.
To participate in the IG Integrity Initiative, providers must sign an IGII pledge and send it to
