5.2 – Angle Bisectors and Perpendicular Lines
A. Angle Bisectors
Bisecting an object involves dividing it into two equal parts. So bisecting an angle
divides it into two equal angles. The bisection of an
angle of _________ results in two angles of
_________ each. The new line or ray that
separates the two halves in known as the

A right angle (90º) or _______________________
line is a bisection of a straight line (180º).
To bisect angles and straight lines use a protractor to measure the angle. Divide
that measure in two and measure the resulting angle within the original angle.
Example 1
Bisect the following lines using a ruler and a protractor (or a compass).
