estimation of the number. We can also say that the number has been rounded o . We
can round o a number to the nearest 10, 100 or 1000.
Rounding off to the nearest 10
To round o a number to the nearest ten, look at the digit in the ones place.
If the digit in the ones place is 4 or less, then place a zero in the ones place and let
the digit in the tens place remain as it is.
If the digit in the ones place is 5 or more, then place a zero in the ones place. Also
add 1 to the digit in the tens place.
